About Us

We (Axene Family) are a family of eight, including our two PWD’s Marley and Kona!  My Husband (Josh) and I have been married for twenty two years and have four beautiful daughters. We are an active family that love Jesus, the outdoors, traveling and time in the pool with our pups. We both grew up with dogs and have always loved having canine family members.  Five years ago, our daughter was diagnosed with Asthma and we needed a hypoallergenic dog.  It was then that they discovered PWD’s and the rest is history!  Marley is five years old and Kona is two years old.  Both are ACK registered and genetic tested.    

We are located in Southern California in the Temecula Valley.  Murrieta is located an hour north of San Diego, an hour west of Orange County and just over an hour south of Los Angeles.  This is a prime location to raise dogs as we have lots of space for the dogs to play, sunny most of the year and the pool gets used by the dogs year round!  

At West Coast PWD we take our pups very seriously and we view the selling / adopting of puppies as a beginning of a long relationship, not a cash transaction.  We are hands on breeders and our children play a crucial role in the puppy process.  We guarantee that the puppies are loved from the moment they are birthed, to when they go home to live with their new families.  All dogs will be registered with the AKC, vaccinated, chipped and fully health tested.  Before breeding all dogs are fully genetic tested and OFA certified (more details can be found on the health records page (https://westcoastpwd.com/dog-health-records) .

Marley is five years old, enjoys car rides, chasing rabbits, going to the office, and napping on the couch!  Kona loves swimming, ball fetching, hiking, and snuggling with mama.  Both are very sweet, intelligent, and quick learners.  Portuguese Water dogs are easy to crate train and potty train, don’t forget the treats!  They are fantastic with kids and “think they are human”.  A loyal dog breed, PWD’s are always wanting to learn and experience new activities and love a challenge!
